About Us
Learn who we are, what we stand for, and why we're committed to uplifting women, girls, and families throughout Southwest Atlanta.
Who We Are
The SW-Atlanta Women's Coalition was founded by Rev., Dr. Canzada Twyman, Founding Executive Director of the Divine Exchange Ministry, Inc. a IRS 501(c)3 Faith-Based Community organization. On July 6, 2023, accompanied by the unwavering dedication of Coalition Members and Supporters, the SWAWC was successfully launched.
We are a comprehensive, diverse group of dedicated women, striving to promote the awareness and well-being of women, girls, and families throughout marginalized communities, that's rooted in faith, shaped by community, and driven by purpose.
We serve marginalized communities by enhancing community awareness and attitudes on challenges such as substance use, mental health, suicide prevention, domestic violence prevention, spiritual wellness, and more.
Serving the community fosters a sense of belonging and connectedness. We believe it's our social responsibility, moral, and ethical obligation to reach back and give back, and to equip others to RISE UP!
Throughout the year, FREE professional ongoing awareness and prevention trainings are provided for community residents, adults, youth, and families. Covering topics the community itself has suggested and recommended.
Our primary training space is located at the One Resource Family Center (ORFC), 5903 Stewart Pkwy., Douglasville, GA 30135. We also travel throughout marginalized communities, collaborating with local libraries, community organizations, and government agencies.
Mission, Vision & Values
To promote the awareness and well-being of women, girls, and families throughout marginalized communities by providing free, professional, and ongoing education, prevention, and empowerment trainings.
A Southwest Atlanta where every woman, girl, and family has access to the tools, knowledge, and community support they need to thrive, and free from the barriers of poverty, stigma, and systemic inequity.
We are committed to serving our community with faithfulness, cultural competency, and genuine love. Believing it is our social, moral, and ethical obligation to reach back and give back.
What We Stand For
We believe serving the community fosters a sense of belonging and connectedness with others who share similar values and aspirations.
We believe in the power of collective action! That together, women can change a community from the inside out.
We believe that access to quality education and awareness is a right, not a privilege, which is why all of our trainings are completely free.
We believe faith and community go hand in hand, that our spiritual grounding is inseparable from our commitment to justice and healing.
Areas of Focus
We serve marginalized communities by enhancing community awareness and attitudes across a wide range of critical topics, all based on what the community itself has identified as priorities.
Breaking the stigma and building pathways to healing through education, open dialogue, and professional-led workshops.
Equipping individuals and families with evidence-based information to understand, prevent, and address substance use challenges.
Creating safe spaces to educate, support, and empower survivors and those at risk within our community.
Raising awareness and providing community members with the language, tools, and resources to recognize and respond to crisis.
Nurturing the whole person, body, mind, and spirit as a vital component of individual and community health.
Providing parents, caregivers, educators, and youth with training and tools to foster healthier, stronger families.
How We Serve
Throughout the year, FREE professional ongoing awareness and prevention trainings are provided for community residents, adults, youth, and families. The trainings cover a multitude of topics, in which the community has suggested and or recommended ensuring our programming is always community-led.
We collaborate with a wide network of certified professionals, therapists, social workers, and community leaders to deliver high-quality, culturally responsive programming to those who need it most.
While we have a dedicated home base, the Coalition travels throughout marginalized communities collaborating with local libraries, community organizations, and government agencies to bring programming directly to the people we serve.
