SATURDAY, DEC. 13th – NAVIGATING THROUGH THE HOLIDAYS, GLOW & FLOW  WELLNESS – PT. I

The holiday season is swiftly approaching, and many people find this time challenging. Research reveals that the season can be both joyful and stressful. To support wellness during this period, it’s helpful to cultivate a sense of Calmness, Gratitude, and Joy.  Practices like mindfulness, deep breathing, and gratitude journaling can effectively reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. Additionally, engaging in activities that foster meaning and connection can boost emotional well-being.

What activities bring you a sense of calmness and joy during the holidays? Do you find it challenging to incorporate gratitude into your daily routine? Take a moment to reflect: what small actions can you take to reach out to others this season?  This session will honestly explore these questions and help identify practical ways to nurture your well-being during the holidays. 

Learning Objectives:

Participants in this session will be able to:

    • Identify personal triggers of holiday stress and develop strategies to manage them effectively.
    • Explore the benefits of gratitude for mental health and develop daily gratitude practices.
    • Create personalized wellness plans that combine mindfulness, gratitude, and journaling practices to sustain wellbeing throughout the holidays.
    • Learn strategies to practice self-compassion and resilience when facing holiday-related stressors or expectations.

About the Trainer:

Pastor, Dr. Canzada Twyman (Cea) is a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, auntie, and a cherished friend to many. A True Trailblazer, who wears numerous hats, a learned woman who has earned multiple degrees and certifications in the human services and behavioral health fields.   She is a U.S. Army Veteran, humanitarian, visionary, and accomplished author—she is a five-time best-selling co-author. Versatile and adaptable, she serves as a Kingdom Leader, Inspirational and Motivational Public Speaker, an Ordained Pastor, Mentor, Spiritual Life Coach, and an International Addiction Professional.

Throughout her journey, she has held various positions addressing issues such as abuse, addiction, trauma, and public health. She has contributed her expertise on numerous task forces and state governing boards. Guided by her steadfast mission and clear sense of purpose, she envisions a community rooted in Embracing, Edifying, Encouraging, Educating, and Empowering “the least of these.”

With her God-giving vision rooted firmly in her heart, Dr. Cea is a Mover, a Shaker, and a True History Maker!   Dr. Cea draws strength from Luke 1:37, “For nothing will be impossible with God.”

SATURDAY, DEC. 27th BEYOND THE HOLIDAYS, SUSTAINING GLOW & FLOW WELLNESS – PT. II

The holiday season is a joyful but often hectic time that can challenge our physical and mental well-being. Increased social activities, festive eating, travel, and stress can impact healthy habits like regular exercise, nutritious eating, and adequate sleep. To support overall health during this season, it’s important to be aware of potential challenges and actively incorporate self-care practices such as mindfulness, stress management, and routine planning. Developing sustainable strategies during the holidays can help maintain well-being and foster long-term healthy habits beyond the season.

Have you ever stopped to consider the challenges of maintaining healthy habits during the holidays?  Are you able to develop strategies to stay active and manage your stress level during this busy season?  Can you incorporate self-care activities into your holiday plans that will support your physical and mental well-being?  This session will explore key element of developing healthy habits and help identify practical ways to nurture your well-being throughout the holiday season and beyond.

Learning Objectives:

Participants in this session will be able to:

    • Self-monitor and reflect to help individuals recognize and prioritize their health and well-being consistently.
    • Develop an ongoing process that reinforce self-care practices suitable for year-round use.
    • Share practical strategies for ensuring adequate sleep, despite holiday schedules and activities.
    • Reduce holiday-related stress through mindfulness and self-care practices.

About the Trainer:

Marrionet Humes is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, with over 27 years of experience in the social / human service arena.  Marrionet is the CEO of Just Breathe Counseling Services and a Community Consultant.  She serves at-risk youth, families, couples and individuals and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in Adoption, Foster Care, and Family Preservation. She has a passion for educating, empowering and supporting children, individuals and families in developing healthy relationships through providing mental health services.

Additionally, Marrionet is a Licensed Real Estate Professional serving the state of Georgia, helping people to connect to their dream home.  She is an active leader and trainer for the WoEE – Southwest Atlanta Women’s Coalition, where she provides professional clinical trainings and healthy conversations on life’s challenges and successes. Marrionet’s passion is helping others and God has blessed her to be able to connect others in a way that impacts change! Marrionet draws strength from Pro. 3:5&6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto my own understanding. In all they ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths

WHO WE ARE:

The SW-Atlanta Women’s Coalition was founded by Rev., Dr. Canzada Twyman, who is the Founding Executive Director of the Divine Exchange Ministry, Inc., a IRS 501(c)3 veteran owned Faith-Based Community organization. Accompanied by the unwavering dedication of Coalition Members, and Supporters, on July 6, 2023, the SWAWC was successfully launched and implemented. We are a comprehensive, diverse group of dedicated women, striving to promote the awareness and well-being of women, girls, and families throughout marginalized communities.

WHAT WE DO:

We serve marginalized communities by enhancing community awareness and attitudes on challenges such as substance use, mental health, suicide prevention, domestic violence prevention, spiritual wellness and more.

WHY WE DO IT:

Serving the community can guide many people to personal growth and development. Thousands of people find that volunteering helps them develop new skills, gain experience, and broaden their perspectives. The Coalition believes involvement in the community fosters a sense of belonging and connectedness with others who share similar values. Additionally, we believe it’s our social responsibility, moral, and or ethical obligation to reach back and give back to our communities to equip others to RISE UP!

HOW WE DO IT:

Throughout the year, FREE professional ongoing awareness and prevention trainings are provided for community residents, adults, youth, and families. The trainings cover a multitude of topics, in which the community has suggested and or recommended.

WHERE:

The Coalition training space is located at the One Resource Family Center (OFRC) located at 5903 Stewart Pkwy., Douglasville, GA. 30135. However, we travel throughout marginalized communities, collaborating with local libraries, community organizations, and government agencies.

  • The process of strengthening communities involves fostering connections, enhancing resources, and promoting inclusiveness. Bringing people together and foster relationships is a vital role within community strengthening.
  • Everyone has a role to play and We the Women’s Coalition, made a sound decision to operate in our role to collaborate and educate residents within marginalized communities.
  • Education is Empowerment, when people are presented the opportunity to enhance their knowledge it enables them to improve their economic situation and enhance their quality of life, which strengthens community.
  • Suicide, Substance Use, Criminal Activity, Family Violence, and even Gun Violence, is PREVENTABLE!
